My Journey: Bridging Systems and Soul
With over 15 years in the technology industry, my career has been a quest to solve a single challenge: How do we build complex, scalable systems that remain fundamentally human?
From my roots in academic research to leading engineering teams at the world’s largest tech platforms, I have learned that the strongest code is supported by the strongest cultures.
2026 - present: Scaling Data Intelligence | Google
I currently lead the engineering efforts for Dataproc, focusing on Managed Spark Services. My role is to simplify massive-scale data processing for thousands of global customers.
Mission: Empowering organizations to derive insights from their data with zero friction.2024 – 2025: Defining the Future of Analytics
2024 - 2025: The Zero-to-One Chapter | Microsoft
As a Principal Engineering Manager for Microsoft Fabric Graph, I led a high-caliber team across the Bay Area and Seattle to build a next-generation, scale-out property graph analytics engine.
Product Vision: Collaborated with architects and PMs to define the "North Star" for graph analytics within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
Operational Excellence: Created a culture of excellence that streamlined inter-continental collaboration, successfully onboarding a global team in Barcelona while improving stakeholder transparency through strategic communication platforms.
Knowledge Advocacy: Launched a "Brown Bag" series and a newsletter that have become the pulse of our organization’s internal knowledge-sharing, fostering a continuous learning environment.
2021 – 2024: Powering Global Commerce with Query Science | eBay
At eBay, I wore two hats: Senior Engineering Manager and Senior Applied Researcher. My focus was on Query Understanding, ensuring that millions of users could find exactly what they were looking for among billions of listings.
Breakthrough Performance: Architected a Java multithreading solution that accelerated query processing by 500%, directly impacting the relevance of millions of search queries.
Efficiency at Scale: Reduced data processing times by 30% by mentoring a cross-functional group of 24 data scientists and engineers in Python, Spark, and Java best practices.
Business Impact: Driven by GenAI and ML ranking, my team’s work on related searches and query recall led to a 1.25% increase in Gross Merchandise Bought (GMB).
2020 – 2021: Scaling Relationships | LinkedIn
As a Software Engineering Manager for Graph Infrastructure, I led a team of 13 engineers responsible for the ingestion and querying services at the core of the Graph database that powers the world's largest professional network.
Modernizing Infrastructure: Orchestrated the 100% migration of legacy ingestion systems and secured key partnerships with teams like "People You May Know," delivering candidate generation features ahead of schedule.
Developing Talent: I take immense pride in having fostered a high-growth environment, resulting in a 15% promotion rate to Staff SWE and a 25% rate to Senior SWE within my team.
Women@LinkedIn: Outside of my core engineering role, I co-led the Women@LinkedIn ERG, driving a 450% increase in membership and creating a supportive network of over 275 women and allies.
2012 – 2019: Innovating in the Graph Domain | Oracle
My time at Oracle was marked by rapid growth, moving from a Senior Engineer to a Principal Technical Lead and a Software Development Manager. Here, I focused on RDF Knowledge Graphs and Property Graphs.
Technical Innovation: Filed three US patents (two granted) and presented at international conferences on graph data storage and query optimization.
System Transformation: Empowered my team to achieve a 500% improvement in data loading for 1.5+ billion entities across Apache HBase, Oracle NoSQL, and Oracle Relational Databases.
Strategic Growth: Built tailored Proof of Concepts that secured multi-million dollar deals with major South American and US banks, proving that engineering excellence is the best sales tool.
2006 – 2011: From Research to Real-World Application
My journey began at the intersection of logic and data. Working at Usaria, and conducting research in Mexico and France, I developed a "UX-first" mindset for engineering.
Semantic Insights: My early work in semantic search and data structures taught me that data is only as good as the meaning we derive from it.
The User-Centric Engineer: My time as a UX Consultant at Usaria ensured that I would never view a backend system as "done" until I understood how it served the end user.
Academic Rigor: My background in Computer Science with specialty on Database systems provided the analytical framework I still use today to solve "impossible" technical debt.
Beyond the Terminal: Logic Meets Art
I am a Creative Technologist at heart. My passion for art and design informs my engineering philosophy: systems should be as elegant as they are functional. Whether I am exploring contemporary art or architecting a graph engine, I focus on harmony, accessibility, and the human experience behind the screen.
